For our Five Senses unit on Touch, my co-teacher developed this touchy-feely board that included: fake fur, sandpaper, prickly pompoms, a smooth can lid, feathers, burlap and more. Then, there was a series of labels: shiny, soft, smooth, and so on, mounted on retractable name badge holders. Kids could choose labels they thought described something, and pull it over and stick it next to that item. Each item had two pieces of velcro next to it so they could use multiple descriptors, and there was more than one item to match most of the labels, so kids could explore their options.
